Shot 8

For our photograph shots, we decided to do the first one as a group shot in school uniforms, as if the characters are surrounded by their friends. It was meant to be informal and messy, and we got a lovely sunny day to get the photo. I also took a few seconds of footage to use in the film as the camera passes over the photograph.

Then, using Final Cut Pro, we edited the footage to get the 'dreamlike' quality we want. This included editing the colours to give them a soft, golden quality, and adding a slight blur, as if it was a near distant memory. The exposure was slightly lowered so that the glare of anything white was easier on the eyes. We then saved these edits as a 'template' so we can drop them over any footage we need. The footage we edited was also cut considerably, as we only need a few seconds of it.
We still have to slow it down and edit in gentle instrumental music.

In order to have time to print off the photos we need, we plan on having all the photographs we need from shots 10 and 12, as well as the additional photos of Ríbh, gathered by this Friday, and send off to have them printed on the Saturday. If we leave it any longer, we would be cutting it too close to the day of filming we need them, which is the 17th of March.

Update on filming 3

Our main actor Calum has dropped out completely. We found a new actor very last minute,  Michael Kelly , whose willing to jump in and fill his role. Michael Kelly  Role: The Boy  Height: 6' Build: Lanky Appearance: Pale complexion, medium length brown hair, pale eyes  Experience: None This leaves the shots we took earlier and edited pretty much useless, which is not ideal but there's no time to reshoot them and get the photos printed for this Sunday.  We can use one dream sequence shot of Ríbh on her own which is still useable, so that's what we'll have to work with.  This could work as it implies that The Boy and The Girl don't have any relationship at all and makes the twist ending a scarier reveal. It wasn't what we planned, but we can work with it.

Poster progress

We initially had three ideas for our poster: a smashed clock, that is seen in the opening shot of Cumha , a screenshot from the movie of the girl's face smiling over the flowers, and a picture of The Girl with a dart through it, all of which are pictured below. We first ruled out using a screenshot from the movie, as this isn't a very professional approach, and then decided not to go along the lines of using the dart as a) the dart board never appears in movie and b) it implies that the movie would be a slasher or horror, which it is not.  Here are the photos we took after we smashed the clock, a symbol of The Boy's hopes and fantasies, as a hint to people looking at the poster of what is to happen.  At first, we couldn't decide between the third or fourth photo, so I decided to do some trials with the third photo, as it's my favourite photo, but it wasn't portrait, as most posters ar...
